  • When you look at your skin, you have thousands of hair follicles covering your body. All the hair follicles in our body go through three phases of the hair growth cycle: Anagen, Catagen and Telogen. All the visible hairs are in the Anagen phase - what is essentially their active stage.

Laser hair removal works by targeting these active hair follicles. The laser light is converted to heat and absorbed by the dark pigment of the hair. As a result these hairs are forced into an inactive phase, and can stay this way in some cases up to months, years or even permanently.

Now remember, we just treated the active hairs. We’ll have to wait until the other hair follicles on your body enter their active growth cycle in order to target them. This is why it will require several sessions to treat all of the hairs on your body areas. Typically the return session period for treatments is 4-6 weeks.

  • We utilize one of the most advanced, safe and comfortable treatments on the market - Dermalase™ Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) . IPL is a technology that combines a power source with a contact cooling system for comfort. The result is less discomfort than what you would experience with typical Laser Hair Removal procedures.

Dermlase™ treatment works by projecting intense light through the use of a special xenon lamp and optical guide with filter. The technology is based on the principle of selective photothermolysis and the resulting radiating energy covers a spectrum of wavelengths from visible light to near infrared. Polychromatic light is absorbed by the chromophores, resulting in a photothermal effect which causes either cell destruction or changes to the cell.

  • SHAVING IS TIME CONSUMING AND DOESN’T REMOVE ALL THE HAIR

Most of us have tried the shaving route, and while it may work in pinch, it will only remove the hair above the skin, can cause hairs to grow back darker and thicker than before, increase likelihood of ingrown hairs and even result in razor burn. Plus, the costs add up over time.

WAXING IS AS PAINFUL AS IT SOUNDS

To begin with your hair has to be 1 cm before it can be waxed. So, you’ll experience the inconvenience of growing it out prior to your appointment. The treatment itself will be uncomfortable and unfortunately, can result in redness, swelling and sometimes even bleeding. Afterward, prepare to be in pain the whole day after a wax as you recover. Lastly, prepare to do it all over again in another 6-weeks!

    DOWN TO THE LAST THREAD

Similar to waxing, threading requires that your hair needs to be a certain length before getting the procedure done. This procedure can be uncomfortable as you are literally pulling the hair follicle out of its root.

  • In our experience, it depends on each person’s body physiology, hormones, and hair density. You can expect between 6-8 treatments on average with breaks every 4-6 weeks in-between to allow for growth cycle.

A full program can vary based on your needs, body differences, and we’ll see clients complete full-treatment typically within the span of 12-24 months.

  • Due to how the process works, it can actually be more accurately understood as “permanent hair reduction”. It is important to understand, that once IPL is applied, where these hairs are rooted they have been traumatized to the extent that these hairs are not growing back. You may still have some very fine and lighter hairs left that are barely felt or seen. Most people will experience between 80%-90% hair reduction. Clients can then opt for a “touch up” session in about a year or so. After which, you are pretty much hair free - permanently.
